can’t complain
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It’s a little on the large side for our 6 and 7 pound “yappy” Yorkie-poo’s, but it’s okay. We don’t keep it on them for very long. Only during the busy time of the day when we need to open the front door (for the kid’s little friends who come and go all afternoon).
The problems: 1. They bark. 2. They slip out the door and run away.
With this thing, there is very little of either because a little “jolt” (we have it set on #1) is enough to correct their behavior. Now the trick will be to see if it sticks.
terrible terrible terrible!

The shock collar worked for about a week on our small dog. The collar would only stay on for a short time and then you would have to press the on/off button again…which is on the collar itself! So…you have to CATCH the dog to turn it on. This doesn’t help at all if the reason you bought it is because the dog doesn’t listen when it is time to come inside or wont let you catch him! Then it stopped working all together so we bought new batteries but still doesn’t work at all. The light will come on, but does nothing when you press the buttons. Very sorry we bought this one when there were so many out there!
Sucks batteries pretty fast

I have to agree with other reviews, the batteries die way too fast. Best thing I can recommend is to only use it when you need it and turn it off the rest of the time. Mine was dead in less than two weeks because we just left it on our dog all the time.
SUGGESTED BATTERIES WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS COLLAR

Petsafe 6-Volt Lithium Battery (2 Batteries per Pack)The site suggests that the above mentioned batteries are frequently purchased when youn buy the Petsafe PDLDT-305 Deluxe Little-Dog Remote Trainer for Pets Under 40 Pounds, but these batteries do not work for this unit! Do not make the same mistake I did as you can not return batteries to Amazon. Had I known that this unit takes 2 button cell batteries (CR2032), I would not have waisted my money.
Does the trick

I got this collar for my hard-headed French Bulldog. I live in the country and my dog had the bad habit of chasing things he did not needs to be chasing and had gotten really handy about taking a run down the road. The collar works great and his “hearing” has gotten much better. I really like the tone feature because you can warn them with the tone first. The collar seems to be durable, my collar has been wet before and has stood up to his scuffling with the other outside dogs. The only drawback I would have to say about the collar is the size. My dog has a thick neck and the collar was still big for him. I have it taken up as far as it will go. If you had a smaller or a skinny dog I don’t know how you would get the collar taken up enough because of the transmitter wire built into the back of the collar. Other than that I give it a thumbs up.
Great Training Collar For A Small Dog

I have a Miniature Pinscher who loved to run and bark at people while we walked. He also loved to eat items lying along the roadway. After two days of training with the collar, he no longer has the aforementioned bad habits. People along our running/walk route are amazed re his good behavior. I have only had to BUZZ him approximately three times
Just make sure you TURN OFF THE COLLAR after using it. I am still using the original batteries after three months.
This is a good price and quick shipping.
AWESOME PRODUCT!!

I have a Paperanian puppy that listens great, most of the time. But the times when she doesnt listen, are the dangerous ones. I work at a dog kennel, and she gets the pleasure of coming with me on a daily basis. However, it becomes dangerous if a dog that doesnt like others come in and she wants to say hi. Or if she follows one of her “friends” out into the parking lot.. but refuses to come. This product has been perfect, I only had to zap her twice (I tested it on myself first, I’m not cruel) now I just say her name and she stops and looks at me. THe stay command has been remarkably sucessful, so has come. The only downfal of this product is it doesnt seem to have the range it advertises. It doesnt work if there is a wall between you, or sometimes even trees. Its amazing how huge the differnce is of her responses when I put the collar on, she just lies quietly next to me..while the other dogs run in front of her. Which if any of you know Pomeranians, they are HYPER!! I would highly recomend this product to anyone, it makes a HUGE difference.
Good for focused training – not random barking

My 6 month English Bull Terrier inspired me to look into shock collars. Before Zeke, I would criticize these collars, and call owners lazy – you know the story. Then I got the worlds most stubborn, bullheaded dog. To ease my guilt, I zapped myself several times before hooking it up to Zeke. It’s awful – but not really painful, just uncomfortable and (you guessed it) shocking. It sort of sneaks up on you. It gets Zeke to stop barking, he snaps his head and shuts up.
I picked this one, with the remote, because I was hoping to get double duty out of it. Trying to be thrifty I guess, but it backfired. I also happen to have the worlds second most stubborn dog, a Corgi, who will actually go through a decision/reasoning process before deciding if he will ‘come’ or not. If you are working to train your dog in this way, with specific commands, the collar is great – it says “dont you ignore me!” and also communicates ‘this is training time, pay attention’.
If you have an incessant barker, get a different collar – one of the automatic ones that zaps based on bark vibrations or whatever. We are CONSTANTLY running around the house screaming “where’s his remote?! where is his zapper?!” all the while he’s barking away. As soon as we find/grab the remote, he knocks it off – but its become a game to him, ‘if I bark like crazy, and they don’t have that thing in their hands, they go running around like idiots looking for it – and that amuses me, so I bark’.
So the collar works, but only as good as the operator, and we’re pretty good at loosing remotes in our house. For targeted training it’s great – but to put an end to that ‘non-stop’ bark at everything behavior, it’s no good at all. No matter how much you try to pay attention (I even thought when I bought this – we’ll be extra careful to have a ‘home base’ or something for the remote), it WILL disappear – and you too will be running around your house screaming “who has his remote?” while your husband is in other room screaming “will someone please zap him?!”. Unless you like that kind of thing ….
And one more thing – the ‘frequently bought together’ pairing with the black 6 volt batteries is incorrect. Those batteries definitely don’t fit in this collar. Maybe they will fit in the second collar I have to buy that doesn’t rely on human discipline to work it …
disappointing

This product claimed it had a “training manual.” It does not, at least, not in the sense of giving you any idea how to use the product in a humane way to teach the dog something. It just has a manual telling how the device works (ie, push the button to shock him). It also includes a little light bulb you can use to make sure the shock works– come on, if this is so humane, it shouldn’t hurt too badly to test it on you own arm.
Also, Amazon said “better together” with a replacement battery, so I ordered it. And it wasn’t for this device!

Doesn’t always respond when remote is pushed. That is for both the shock and tone. Hard to tell when the shock is really happening. Dog does seem to respond when she hears of feels it.
